Behave like a Governor, not politician' | Admin sat on a proposal about not to allow civilian vehicles along with SF convoy | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 16: Terrorists carrying out a car bombing at Lethpora on Srinagar-Jammu highway has put a question mark over the functioning of the Governor's administration in Jammu and Kashmir. The terror attack which martyred as many as 40 CRPF men is a strong message to the Governor Satya Pal Malik that "sweet talks" and "lip service" are not enough to eliminate terrorists and terrorism from the Valley. Stern action is required to wipe out these Pakistan sponsored terrorists. "Governor Malik has to realize that he is heading a very sensitive state and he cannot just rely on the coterie around him for the feedback," said an analyst. He said, "Terrorists and their masters are doing everything to bleed the security forces and cause maximum damage. It's unfortunate that the inputs provided by the security agencies that terrorists are planning a Fidayeen attack were ignored. In fact the Governor Malik till day before the attack was talking about his idea that he is not in J&K to kill the militants but he wants to kill militancy. Someone needs to ask him how militancy can be killed without killing the militants, who are highly radicalized and are challenging India's sovereignty." The analyst said that J&K has been under Governor's rule for the past eight months but during all these months no thought was given about securing the movement of the convoys of the security forces. "Since the day Governor Malik has taken over the reins of the state he has been boosting about the initiatives he has taken to involve the youth is sports and other activities. He and the people around him never gave a thought to prevent civilian vehicles from moving along with the convoy. The security agencies had moved this proposal when Mehbooba Mufti was the Chief Minister of the state but she blocked it as she did not want to annoy the Pakistan stooges and the people sitting across the Line of Control. Governor Malik could have easily allowed the security forces to go ahead with the proposal. Had he given a serious thought to it we may not have lost 40 brave hearts," the analyst added. An observer said that Governor Malik cannot just shift the blame on others and escape. "He (J&K Governor) needs to realize that he is holding a constitutional post and it has got nothing to do with the politics. He should act like a Governor rather than a politician. Country has paid a heavy price for him indulging in political stunts," the observer added. |
