Need to preserve language to save values, culture: Prof Dhar | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 25: Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University that there is dire need to preserve mother tongue in order to save culture, custom and values of any community. Moreover, mother tongue is the best medium to inculcate sense of belongingness. While addressing a large gathering as a chief guest at 'Samohik Shivratri Samaroh', organised by Sanjeevani Shardha Kendra at Jagti township. The programme was supported by managing committees of Mata Kheer Bhwani temple Jagti, Radha Krishan Mandir Jagti and Shive Mandir Jagti. While lavishing praise on the organisers for smooth and successful conduct of the programme, Prof Dhar said that such 'Samohik' programmes go a long way in preserving culture and customs of a community. He further said that the certificate courses in Shardha lipi have already been started and the focus is on running the diploma courses in this regard. Congratulating young artist Rahul Wanchoo for singing a beautiful Kashmiri song, Prof Dhar said that such performances bring ecstatic feeling in everybody's mind. Earlier, after paying rich tributes to the martyrs of Pulwama terror attack, Paray Lal Bhat from Sanjeevani Shardha Kendra presented welcome address, while Dr MK Bharat introduced Annual Calendar of the Kendra. The main speaker, Swami Radesh Dass Ji and Prof PN Trisal, who presided over the function, threw light on 'Shaivism' and significance of the 'Samaroh'. |
