Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 25: Despite having full-fledged legal section to tackle litigations, atleast 146 orders issued by Department of Rural Development and Panchyati Raj, have been stayed in various courts including High Court by individuals, district Rajouri tops in list having over 40 per cent of the litigations. Sources informed Early Times that between 2010 and 2018 around 146 litigations have been filed by individuals against department's orders while several cases are pending for over two decades. "In Udhampur district, 11 litigations have been filed against department, in Reasi 4, Kishtwar 15, Samba 4, Kathua 3, Ramban 12, Poonch 17, Jammu 10, Rajouri 55 and 14 litigations are pending in district Doda", copy of official data provided by RDD reveals. Sources informed that majority litigations are related to un-due promotions and other benefits given to officials of department by authorities. "However, when higher ups try to mend the wrong doing of their subordinates, the beneficiaries rush to court, most of the cases remain un-attended on the part of department, even in several cases, the department never filed any objection", they said and added that paradoxically, no actions against officers who committed these blunders, have been taken despite their involvement in 'illegal' promotions. |
