For Mehbooba lines getting blurred in Kashmir
Seeks help of separatists for her anti-India fight
2/25/2019 11:50:04 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 25: It is official now that Peoples Democratic Party is out to erode the line between the separatists and mainstream politicians in Kashmir Valley with PDP President on Monday making an open offer to separatists to join her to fight against the Central Government decisions.
In a press conference that the PDP President addressed at her fair view residence, she declared in open that separatists and people from other political ideologies should join her to against the decisions being taken by the Central Government vis-a-vis Kashmir. "I think the time has come when we all should fight and resist ourselves. I even want separatists to join so that we could do a joint effort all together," Mehbooba said and added that she is also in touch with NC vice president Omar Abdullah and they both will adopt a long term strategy.
PDP has been adopting a strategy of open defending militants, stone pelters and even proudly stating that she has been telephoning the separatists like Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
The PDP president earlier even went to the hinterland where militancy thrives and visited the families of the militants. ""Police and other security forces cannot function outside the ambit of law. That will create more problems than it solves. On the one side, we have been making claims that we want to take youngsters away from violent methods but on the other hand, it seems that the government is doing everything to push them further into this unending cycle of violence," she said soon after visiting the family members of one of the active militant.
The party has also adopted a tough approach against its own former ally BJP with a sole objective to regain relevance. Recently, the PDP issued a public statement accusing the BJP of having a unifocal agenda which thrives on hate and promotes tensions and that the party has got unnerved due to the recent political developments in Kashmir's political landscape that unfolded new possibilities and eroded BJP's blackmailing position.
It was interestingly on October 30, last year when Jammu and Kashmir Governor stated that he admits the fact that when Mehbooba Mufti was the chief minister of the state, the recruitment of militants witnessed a spike and also those pelting stones too found it easier to attack the security forces.
"I have not gone to Jammu and Kashmir with the BJP's band wagon. I will work as per the constitution and as far as the previous government in the state is concerned, there must be some reason that the support from the PDP was withdrawn. And I admit the fact that while Mehbooba Mufti was the chief minister of the state, the militant recruitment got increased and stone pelters too got away easily while pelting the stones. And what we are reaping at present is what the coalition did in the state but at that time those who were in alliance partners in the government should have reacted to the mistakes being done. Today, I am not answerable to their wrongs," Governor Malik had said in an interview then.
Meanwhile, what would be interesting to watch is the response of the separatists towards the offer.
