Terminating NHM employees no solution to issue: Dr Manohar | | | Early Times Report
BILLAWAR, Feb 25: Senior Congress leader and former Minister Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today said recent termination of NHM employees by the government who were striking since long for fulfillment of their demands is totally unjustified. While interacting with various delegations at Durang, Billawar, Dr Sharma said that termination of employees at this time is not the solution to problem when the state is already facing acute shortage of doctors and subordinate staff in hospitals, PHCs and CHCs. Dr Sharma said that instead of solving the issues of employees who are on a month long strike now the government behaved in "dictatorial" way by terminating the employees. Also he said in many parts of state, the health centers had been closed down due to non-availability of staff. Due to closure of roads following inclement weather, reports of patients undergoing hardships due to unavailable healthcare services have been regular plus healthcare has suffered a jolt due non-available NHM employees, who form the only healthcare staff pool in many areas. He further requested the government to reconsider their decision and find a concrete solution to their demands which include regularization, removal of pay anomaly and service benefits to employees working with the Mission. He also urged the state government to look into matter of regularization of daily wagers of various departments. |
