10 years RI, Rs.1 lakh fine to two real brothers in NDPS | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 27: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua Sanjeev Gupta today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs one lac each to two real brothers namely Nazir Ahmed and Shakir Ahmed Sons of Abdul Rashid R/O Village Samboora, Tehsil Pampore, District Pulwama (Kashmir) for smuggling of Bukki. As per prosecution case, on checking of vehicles, truck No.JK03B/7191 coming from Jammu side was stopped at the 'naka' point and during the search of the said truck, eight plastic bags containing poppy straw ('bhuki') kept underneath boxes of apples loaded in the truck were recovered following which FIR was registered against the accused at PS Rajbagh. Principal Sessions Judge Kathua Sanjeev Gupta after hearing Public Prosecutor BB Sharma for the State whereas Adv TN Gupta for the accused persons observed that in view of the facts and circumstances of the case and after weighing aggravating and mitigating circumstances, convicts Nazir Ahmed and Shakir Ahmed are sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of ten (10) years each and a fine of Rs.1,00,000/- (one lakh) each, under section 15 (c) of the N.D.P.S Act. In case of default of payment of fine, the convicts shall further undergo simple imprisonment for a period of six months. |
