Jammu hospitals put on high alert, leaves canceled | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 27: In view of the prevailing situation at the LoC and International Borders with Pakistan, all hospitals including district hospitals have been put on high alert and asked to stock up essential medicines and supplies immediately, besides deputing adequate staff for emergencies. Officials told that Directorate of Health Services Jammu called a meeting after receiving directions from the state government and issued instructions to the Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and others staff to stock up essential drugs and supplies. Blood banks volunteers have been asked to be prepared to donate blood in case of emergency. Officials further added that tertiary care hospitals associated with Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu were directed to prepare for any untoward situation and also asked them to store adequate stock of essential drugs and medicines, oxygen, surgical supplies and other items in view tense situation in the Jammu. An official of GMC Jammu said that they have adequate staff and drugs in place to deal with any emergency. Though the hospital witnesses a huge rush of patients on a daily basis, separate wards are kept for causalities. The patients who are admitted in the hospital with not very serious issues may be asked to return to their homes after required treatment. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Jammu Dr Danish Khan told, "In view of the existing situation, we have canceled the leaves of the doctors except for child care and medical leave after conducting tours in border areas". Dr Danish said that enough ambulances, staff and other human resources shall be put in place and hospitals are ready to handle any situation. |
