Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Mar 7: Sinking of land in Ramban areas has created scare besides causing extensive loss to property. The sinking, experts believe, has been a result of continuous rainfall during the past few weeks. Many families have moved to safer places in Pernote village, 5 KM from district headquarters reports said adding land sinking rendered many people homeless. Reports said five residential houses were completely damaged due to land sinking in the area. Twenty houses, reports added, suffered partial damage. Pertinent to mention, all the damaged houses are owned by the labour class. A local, Mohammad Saleem said upper portion of the village started sinking three days ago causing cracks in houses. "We have approached the district administration for assistance. We have lost our property and livelihood as well," he said. He said all the affected families and their livestock are living under open sky despite intense cold and continuous rainfall. Tariq Saleem, another resident expressed dismay over delay in assistance. People have sought immediate assistance. |
