| Grappling team (M&W) brings laurels to JU | | | Jammu, Mar 7: Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu facilitated all the sixteen members contingent in Grappling (M&W) of University of Jammu,who participated in All India Inter University Grappling (M&W) Championship organized by Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak w.e.f. 1.3.2019 to 04.03.2019. Prof Dhar eulogised the efforts of Directorate of Sports & Physical Education in general and medalists in particular and encouraged the Dept. to participate in all the sports events local and at national level. It is pertinent to mention here that University of Jammu remains runner-up in Men and second runner-up in Women Section Grappling Championship. Besides, University of Jammu, near about 50 Universities from all over the Country also participated in the Championship. The Jammu University Team won 17 medals in different categories.
It is for the first time in the history of University of Jammu that 17 medals have been won by any team in any Inter-University Championship. The break-up of their weight categories and their respective medals bagged at the Championship Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu also applauded the efforts of the whole team including the Coaches Pushap Thakur, Sahil Dogra and Jai Bharat and congratulated the team for securing second in Men and third in Women categories respectively in All India Inter University Grappling (Men & Women) Championship 2018-19.
