Jammu, Mar 26: School of Management Studies, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University organized one day national seminar on ecotourism: Challenges and issues. The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Javed Musarrat, Vice Chancellor of the University. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Musarrat said that there is an enormous scope of Ecotourism in today's world. Prof. Musaarat said that the State of Jammu and Kashmir is blessed with captivating and mesmerizing destinations for the tourists across the globe. Prof. Musarrat stressed upon the need to preserve and conserve the ecologically frail areas. Prof. Musarrat said that the local communities can play a significant role in development and sustenance of Eco-tourism without disturbing the ecology. Prof. Sheba Hamid, Department Commerce, AMU presented the key note address. In her address, she said that Eco-tourism can be best presented as a subset of nature-based tourism. Prof. Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academic affairs also spoke on the occasion. Prof. Iqbal said that ecological concerns are must for any tourism venture. He said that a sustainable policy framework conserving the ecologically frail areas is critical to showcase the beauty of virgin destinations across the country and particularly in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, Prof. Naseem Ahmed, Dean of the School Presented the welcome address and highlighted the theme of the seminar. The first technical session was chaired by Prof. Sheeba, whereas second technical session was chaired by Dr. Dil Pazir. Those who were present on the occasion include, Prof. Mohammed Asghar, Dean Engineering, Asrar Gaus, Director CHT, Heads, Faculty members, delegates from other Institutions, Research scholars and students of various Departments. The Seminar was coordinated by Dr. Kafeel Ahmed, Dr. Jatinder Kumar, Dr. Danish, Vinay and the proceedings were conducted by Tazeem Akhter. |
