DHS Jammu's employees forced to go outside for nature’s call | | | Nitesh Sangral
Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 26: Creating tough situation for the staff of the Directorate of Health and Services Jammu, the employees have been forced to go outside the complex for nature call as few washrooms were locked at the office for last many months. Pertinently, the washroom had been locked for its maintenance last year and since then the same were locked except female washrooms and no efforts were made to unlock the same. An official of DHS Jammu, seeking anonymity told when it comes to using the bathroom at work almost staff comes under stress everyday as the washroom facility is no longer for males employee in the said complex for last some months. It is creating a tough situation for male government employees during working hours. "For last five to 6 months, we are unable to use the washroom as toilets were closed and fell offended when we try to use the female washroom and some time female colleague knocks on the door. We have approached our boss many times about this, but as usual the authorities don't pay any heed to our issues," the official said. A woman employee told that it is common for males to defecate in the open; women do not have that option as they have to control their bladder. "If we do so then the chance of Urinary Track Infections and other health problems are increased. In the absence of washrooms what else can we do?" she asked. Moreover, a group of official claimed that a number of the delegations had called Director of DHS Jammu and the matter was brought to his notice and he assured that the same would be functional as soon as possible but months have passed not a single washroom has functional. "Two washrooms were locked by the officials of the DHS Jammu by keeping items inside the washrooms which is totally nonsense as washrooms meant for nature calls or keep record or other items inside them," they alleged, adding that higher authority should take notice of it and concerned authority should be asked for denying basic facility. When contacted Director, DHS Jammu Dr Samir Mattoo was not available for comment. |
