Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 26: Despite posting of new Block Development Officer, the Kalakote block could not be streamlined after death of former BDO on February 12 this year. According to sources, there are huge funds under various schemes lying unspent despite huge liability for various works under Central as well as state sponsored schemes. "The block remained headless from February 12, 2019 to March 13, 2019 due to death of the then BDO Abdul Haq", sources said, adding that however, two week ago new BDO joined the block, but did not touch a paper in her office. "Seeking posting somewhere in Jammu, the BDO Kalakote Sadia Ahmed, since the day she joined, visited here office only twice", said local contractor, who visited block office for the payment against various works he had completed. "Presently, funds over Rs 45 lacs were lying unspent in BDO's account, under MGNREGA and other schemes", said an official pleading not to be named, and added that salary of some officials engaged under MGNREGA has not been paid after death of Haq saab, despite availability of funds. "We have funds under health sector, sheep husbandry and some other departments, but since the drawing and disbursing powers are with BDO, who is not willing to work here, these funds would certainly be lapsed", they official said. They said that the brother of the BDO, an IAS officer presently posted as DC Shopian, was also trying to get his sister posted somewhere in Jammu city. |
