Taekwondo players accuse indoor stadium officials of harassment | Seek Guv's intervention to end hegemony | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Mar 26: Two Taekwondo players of Kashmir have accused the manager Indoor Stadium Srinagar of 'harassment' and have approached Governor Satya Pal Malik to act against the accused. Aaquib Gulzar and Inayat Hussain of Nowgam Srinagar said that manager of the Indoor stadium harassed and abused them in front of hundreds of students in the stadium. The duo has participated in national level tournaments and allege that the accused person is running an illegal association while abusing his official position. He said they were being ignored in the stadium as some people including the manager is running illegal coaching classes in the indoor stadium. They alleged that they were harassed for raising voice against the illegal practices in the indoor stadium that has been going on since long time. The players said that they approached the concerned authorities including Secretary and Director Youth Services and Sports but no action was taken against them. "Now as we feel that the accused person has full backing from higher ups, they have approached Governor of the state Mr Satyapal Malik to intervene in the matter so that illegal practices are stopped in the sports activities" They said though the government is keen to boost sports activities in the state by developing sports infrastructure and spending huge budget on trainings and other activities but some tainted officials are hell bent to fail the government initiative by demoralizing the genuine professional sports persons. |
