Forest Deptt allows JCB to destroy green gold | | | AB Sharma

Jammu, Mar 26: Forest Department has allegedly allowed a JCB to carve out a road passage illegally which has destroyed forest area in Tehsil Akhnoor of District Jammu. Sources told Early Times that a JCB was spotted by locals in forest areas of village Kotli Hiri Block Akhnoor Ward 8, 9, 10, which was making passage for road under Block Development Office Akhnoor in violation of norms. "No NOC was given by the Forest Department to the BDO for carrying out road work," they said further adding that the work is being done on the behest of some influential local politicians and there is clear involvement of Forest Officials and BDO Akhnoor in this illegal development work. The locals were of the opinion that they want development but not on such conditions where blatant violation was done by the concerned department. When contacted DFO Jammu Sat Pal in this connection, he feigned ignorance of the matter and asked to produce some credible proof of this violation and assured that if evidences were found true a strict action will be taken action the erring officials. Meanwhile the local residents appealed to the Governor to take action against Forest and BDO officials. |
