Code of Literacy & Human Values
Jamwal Mahadeep Singh4/5/2019 10:31:51 PM
A politician should be one whose educational level is a bit above all that he is representing. How will the uneducated politician have a vision for the people, who are more educated than him? How will he argue and convince those highly educated that his vision is good for the people? Leader is the foundation of the society but our bad luck is that every Tom & Jerry is a politician and self acclaimed leaders of the society. A good leader gives good society; good society gives good people with moral values. Better society gives better nation. The Indian political system is in a mess because majority leaders are illiterate and incompetent. For decades we have been the victim of corruption and there has been no development commensuration to with the money spent on this aspect, since our independence from the Bruisers. This is bitter truth. The solution lies in to elect leaders who are capable, well-educated, and are passionate about improving the welfare of citizens. Education has become now more important need in the field of the politics. Seeing the present condition of Indian politicians, they should be educated as a priority as they don't even know much about Indian history, politics and even Indian geography too. They are very much confined to their region or constituencies. It is necessary to have a better country and they should be educated so they get new ideas and results. It is needed because they should understand situations and problems of people and understand citizen's problem, fair, equality and dignity across the nation.
Presently the young and educated that our new generation is going to rule the country think that education is more necessary to politics. Knowledge and education both are important because without knowledge, how we can judge, what is right and what is wrong, because IQ is very important for thinking ability. If a leader is educated it is helpful. He must not be totally dependent on advisory units for minute problems. He is a public representative and elected to overcome the problem. He must withstand with self-created dialogues and self desired conceptual changes, this will help him to get rid of bureaucrats practically running the politicians.
Politicians are the people who are politically active especially with the political parties. Whereas coming to education, it acts as a key role where it makes the man civilized. Since we are living in a technology world, my point is politicians should at least require a certain qualification or degree. They need others help which means they are incompetent. If one is well educated means they know the value of the problem, different ideas, how to face the problem? They will reach success path of the problem.
Having the right education background and qualification are important for politicians, because education acts as a foundation for implementing policies. Only when people are aware of the problems can they think of the solution. So, potential candidates should at least have a degree in fields that are relevant in the political arena. Before allowing potential candidates to take part in elections, it is required to be ensured that they have relevant degrees such as Law, economics or political science, are capable of bringing positive results, change to the country, and most importantly, committed and determined to take the country to greater heights. This can only be possible if we legislate on the qualifications required being a public representative.
In our country, some of the states, where level and standard of education is low among people, majority are under developed, facing high crime rate, lack of infrastructure, communal riots, gender offences, low living standards, backward thinking and lack of farsightedness etc. Education gives knowledge which gives best persons to the society and the society gives best persons to be their representatives. Successful persons know the value of education. If good leader know the value of education, he will do work properly. Minimum qualification of education is important to solve the people problems.
We feel after 65 years of independence, our major problem but education is. Thus we must have our politicians educated and qualified as the public delivery they have to give in modern world of digitization as many leadership attributes are gained through education. Leaders without education cannot cope up with the change, hence it hinders country development. Education for a leader is must for countries' bright, future and prosperity.
Now the big question mark that how a literate society is tolerating these illiterate politicians? When we require even a 'Safai-Karamchari', having some prescribed qualification and experience, the Constitutional provisions are required to be revisited for incorporating certain 'Code of literacy & human values' for public representatives. But this million dollar question will never be perceived by our public representatives owing to their own illiteracy, poor vision and self centric interest.
The educated people have to raise a collective & forceful voice as not be get ruled by illiterates. The time is ripe to weed out illiterate politicians from the society, as it is visionless fraternity and their existence so far had been only on exploiting the society on religion, caste based, hollow slogans, muscle power, corrupt practices and money power. I feel if our voters are well educated and truly understand and able to judge between good and bad, it will automatically change the whole dimension of politics and politicians and force our politicians to be well educated and to be growth focused.
Concluding, it doesn't mean that only educated people are intelligent. Apart from educated one, real qualification needed for politicians is to have practical knowledge, ability to make quality decisions. Even today's most educated politicians are responsible for many of the scams. He / she should have the urge to serve the nation and its very own people. Here we have to visualize also that can all educated people are intelligent? And will all educated politicians will be so? And true leaders to lead the country to a brighter future. We have seen many educated politicians are responsible for many of the scams. The visual difference between educated politicians seems is their style of functioning is that what you not find in the uneducated ones. Moreover it is not the education that defines the integrity of a person but basic honesty and live functioning consciousness. Education, delegating, positive attitude, creativity, inspire, approach, team building, risk taking, vision and goal setting, self assessment, sharp perception, awareness, decisiveness, accountability, confidence, optimism, honesty, trustworthiness, commitment, tolerable, calmness, and a composed nature are the real qualities which we should look forward in our public representative and it is universally excepted that all goodies comes if a person is educated one. The words of world personalities will apprise of the importance of education; Franklin D. Roosevelt = "Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely, the real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education" - Martin Luther Jr. = "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education" -. Nelson Mandela = Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Lastly it will not be unfair if I look forward for the requirement of a "Code of literacy & human values" for our politicians especially opting to be public representative, when our literacy rate has gone up to 74.04 from 12% at the time of Independence in 1947, and is increasing in the country.
