Early Times Report
KUPWARA, Apr 5: Even as the winter has ended in Kashmir, but the roads of this frontier district have potholes due to which students in particular are suffering. The locals said the department gets huge funds every year but the condition of the roads speaks volumes about its inefficiency. Mohammad Sultan of Batpora said that, both the national highway and inner link roads are in shambles, many times in the past we were assured that after winter, the roads will be repaired, but till date no repair work was carried on these roads. One fails to understand as to why the government is not fulfilling its promises as in past huge amount was sanctioned to repair and construct the roads in the district but announcement has remained confined to papers only. He said that, the air pollution has created problems for their children, the dust has created many diseases on school going children and for all this mess, and the department concerned is responsible. Sijad Ahmad Mir, a class 12 student said that due to potholes, damaged roads they reach late to their schools. Residents allege that the department of R&B is not able to use funds properly due to many reasons and one of the reasons is they are not willing to utilize the funds at ground level, where as Beacon authorities were supposed to maintain these roads but they have also failed in their duties. |
