| PHE deptt fails to repair water pipes despite availability of PMGSY funds | | | MS Nazki

POONCH, Apr 5: As macdamisation of Mendhar Suram road was in progress several pipelines supplying drinking water to many areas got damaged. The PMGSY paid adequate compensation but the repair work was not done.
The affected people in Mendhar - Suram road and adjoining hamlets expressed resentment against PHE department for their failure to restore potable water supply to them, they added. Sources said Mendhar - Suran road was being repaired by PWD but for the last two years its macadamization was taken up by the PMGSY.
They said several supply pipe lines got damaged during construction of roads and drains hampering water supply to the above mentioned areas.
They added that the PMGSY paid the PHE department adequate compensation by the repair work was not undertaken for unknown reasons.
The locals have appealed to the Chief Engineer PHE department to look into the matter. |
