Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Apr 5: Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) state unit today criticized the government over the withdrawal of security of political leaders, saying people affiliated with political parties should have been given the security in view of the elections.
BJP leader and its Member of Legislative Council (MLC), Ramesh Arora in a presser at Srinagar said that the party he is affiliated with will also revoke Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) but only after the situation in the State returns to normalcy. Arora criticized the government over the withdrawal of security to political leaders amidst the election process, stating that the decision o withdraw the security to political leaders was bankruptcy.
He said that such a decision was an attempt to increase vulnerability of politicians to threats during elections. Arora, the sitting MLC urged the Governor Stya Pal Malik led administration in Jammu and Kashmir to take the demand of BJP seriously. "The BJP demands restoration of security to political leaders after withdrawal by the government recently," he said.
Lashing out at National Conference (NC) vice president, Omar Abdullah for promising restoration of the positions of Prime Minister and Sadr-e-Riyasat, Arora said that he (Omar) should go back to the history to make any statement in this regard.
"Omar should bear in his mind that Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah constituted a committee under the chairmanship of then minister Divedas Thakur, which ruled out the possibility of withdrawing the central laws extended to the state. Omar is trying to take a political mileage from his statements," he added.
Reacting to the statement made by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief, Mehbooba Mufti wherein she had stated that there will no one in Kashmir to carry the flag of India if Article 370 is abrogated, Arora said she should better focus on her party as the leaders are leaving it very rapidly.
"I think there is no one to carry the flag of that party but instead the people in large number will take Indian flag in their hands within and outside Kashmir," he added.
