After Omar, Mehbooba trains guns at Lone | 2019 polls divide Kashmir | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 10: The 2019 Lok Sabha polls have virtually divided Kashmir and upset NC owners, Farooq Abdulla and Omar Abdullah, and PDP leader, Mehbooba Mufti. They are not just attacking non-NC and Non-PDP leaders in Kashmir to win the Lok Sabha elections so that they could enter the Parliament, but also People's Conference chief Sajad Lone and similar other "leaders" from Kashmir, who have fielded their candidates against Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti. The argument advance by the NC and the PDP leaders against the non-NC and the non-PDP outfits and leaders is the same: They are splitting Muslim votes to help the RSS and the BJP establish their domination over Kashmir. However, it was Mehbooba Mufti who without mincing words condemned People's Conference chief Sajad Lone, who was in her Cabinet out of the BJP's quota. Of course, she didn't take his name, but his target was Lone. Accusing Lone of splitting Muslim votes and promoting New Delhi in Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti said that they were not calling Muslims as Muslims but dividing them into Gujjars, Bakerwals, Paharis, Shias and Sunnis. "I am warning you that J&K is passing through a tough phase. Certain forces want to change the Muslim identity of the state. They want to divide Muslims of the state. The proxies of the BJP who visit you wearing regionalism and sectarianism on their sleeves are enemies of the people. They want to divide you on the basis of Paharis, Gujjars, Shias, Sunnis, Jamaat-e-Islami, Ahle Hadith. They are deceiving you to dilute the Muslim majority character of the state, "she said while addressing a party workers convention at Uri, Kashmir. Without naming Sajad Lone, Mehbooba also said: "These new parties, who divide people on the basis of Pahari-speaking and Kashmiri-speaking people and Shias and Sunnis, were being funded by the BJP. She also asked: "Wherefrom they get the money for these flags, vehicles and party activities?" All this indicates that things in Kashmir are changing and the traditional leadership as represented by the Abdullahs and the Muftis is under threat. |
