Sanitary complexes in Rajouri turn out to be cattle sheds | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, Apr 28: Though the District Panchayat Office has spent huge sums of money on the construction of Sanitary complexes but there are few instances where they are being used for other purposes. Doongi block of Rajouri district is one such place where locals alleged that few people are using the sanitary complex for personal use and at some places, people have converted these sanitary complexes into cattle shed. Locals of the area said that government spent Rs 1.74 lac on every sanitary complex in a Panchayat or in important religious places and in places of tourism importance, but these are useless in majority of the areas. They said that PM Modi started SBM scheme and directed the authorities for construction of bathrooms under SBM, but in many cases, people have taken the money and are not using those bathrooms. They alleged that BDO office Dongi is fully involved in the malpractices and is not taking any action against those who have converted sanitary complexes into cattle sheds. They seek the attention of DPO Rajouri and district administration in the matter and demanded that sanitary complexes should be constructed at appropriate places so that locals of respective areas would be able to use it without any hindrance. |
