Sikh organizations demand delimitation | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 8: All India Sikh Student Federation and All Nojawan Sabhas under the banner of Panthak Morcha Jammu J&K demanded to hold delimitation in the state. Addressing media persons, S Avtar Singh Khalsa welcomed the decision of the Government of India for delamination of the Assembly seats of J&K and to end the freeze imposed upon delimitation in 2001-2002 by the then state Assembly. Khalsa said that parliament absolutely has no problem in amending the section 47 of the constitution because all the powers pertaining to the state vesting in the parliament under presidents rule. S. Mohinder Singh President Akali Dal and Member DGPC reminding that it was very much in the manifesto of BJP during 2014 assembly elections and also categorically promised early delimitation of assembly constitutes in J&K so as to ensure justice to the Jammu Region. He demanded the readjustment of territorial boundaries, rotation of reserve seats, identification of seats for fresh reservation by involving the concerned communities in the whole process. Khalsa demanded the . identification of two seats for the reservation of Sikh community one each in both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir at present. Mohan Singh Khalsa Member DGPC said that after partition of the country in 1947 the Sikh community was the most affected community in :both the regions about 50 thousand Sikhs were killed and the whole community is scattered in whole of the country. The Sikh community is scattered in such is Way that Sikhs can't elect their representative (MLA) on their own in J&K. He demanded the reservation. of two seats in the new delimitation process for the Sikh community |
