Jammu, June 8: The state Higher Education department is likely to propose creation of over 7200 posts of gazetted as well as non-gazetted employees for over 100 new government degree colleges. Sources informed Early Times that the Higher Education department has been working on a proposal for the creation of posts in 103 newly created colleges. These colleges include 50 colleges created earlier by the state government from state-sector while three colleges were created under Rashtriya Ucchtar Shiksha Abhiyaan (RUSA). Moreover, the State Administrative Council has recently announced 50 more government colleges. Out of these 50 new proposed colleges, 40 would be for the academic purposes while 10 would be professional colleges, sources said, adding that out of 40 colleges, 30 would be established in the uncovered areas while 10 would be women colleges, established in the areas, where there are no women colleges. Moreover out of 10 professional colleges, 8 would be professional colleges for students while 2 would be academic staff colleges, in which college faculty members would get training as well as undergoing refresher course. Sources informed that as per the proposal mooted by Higher Education department a total of 72 posts would be created in each college in a phased manner. "Out of 72 posts in each college, 36 would be of Assistant Professors while remaining 36 would be of other employees, including Accountant, Junior Assistants, Class-IV etc", sources said. They further said that as per an estimate, a total of 3600 new posts of Assistant Professors and 3600 posts of other staff would be created in new colleges. "After the finalization of the proposal, it would be forwarded to the Finance department and it depends upon the concurrence of the Finance department towards the fate of the proposal", sources said, adding that if the Finance department would okay the proposal, the posts would be created in a phased manner. Sources further said that as per the proposal the Higher Education department would get nod for the creation of 7200 posts in one go but the creation would be done in a phased manner, which would take few years to complete. "It would be great opportunity for the unemployed qualified youth of the state and also the youth of the state, who would get colleges at their doorsteps", the official said. |
