CF seeks representation in committee for road widening | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 8: The Citizens' Forum, Jammu has appealed to the governor S. Satya Pal Malik and MoS in PMO, Dr. Jitender Singh to include the members of the forum, particularly those with technical background, to the committee, to be constituted by the Chief Secretary of the state, to look into the matter of widening of Ambphalla-Janipur Road and shifting of wayside utilities of Janipur-High Court road. The formation of the committee has been directed by the Division Bench of the state High Court, wherein it has ordered the Chief Secretary to constitute a committee which will consist in addition to himself, Commissioner/Secretary Public Works Department, Commissioner/Secretary Finance and Commissioner/Secretary Planning to take a final decision regarding shifting of utilities on the Janipur-High Court link road and the payment to the Public Development Department (PDD) for making such a shifting possible, to consider the reports furnished by the RITES to put in place a futuristic mobility plan and also to consider the widening of the existing road as suggested in the proposal prepared by the PWD pending execution of the Metro project. The direction has come recently in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Citizen's Forum through its President RK Chadha. |
