Sainik Welfare Deptt celebrates Flay Day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 29: Sainik Welfare Deptt celebrated Flay Day to highlight the contribution of citizens to the soldiers and families of battle causality. The speaker (J&K) Dr Nirmal Singh graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Mamta Singh was the Guest of Honour. Director Rajya Sainik Board, Brig Harcharan Singh, VSM said that various schemes executed for welfare of soldiers are combined effort put in by Home Deptt J&K, Sainik Welfare Deptt, Citizens/NGOs and other organization/Deptts. An efforts was made and total of 69 families of Battle Causalities were adopted by citizens/NGOs. The aim for adoption was to provide psychological and morale support to the family members. Certain widows donot get any pension from Army due to technical reasons. They are given penury grant by state Govt i.e Rs 48000 per annum. To provide financial help to such widows, Old Age Home management decided to provide monthly pension of Rs 1000 to those 30 Non pensioner widows, who are financially weak. The scheme is being planned to be extended for total of 60 Non Pensioner widows. Giat Jain, President SS Jain Sabha Jammu, Jain Nagar, Talab Tillo has been actively supporting soldiers in the past. Certain old ESM/Widows visiting Sainik Welfare Deptt find it difficult to walk from vehicle to the office building. |
