DC visits border villages to assess ground zero situation | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Oct 3: Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer, today visited Bobiya, Londi, Chandra Chack, Maniyari, Pansar and adjoining border villages to get first hand information from ground zero after unprovoked firing and ceasefire violation from other side of the border. During his visit to forward areas, DC interacted with the residents to get explicit knowledge of the problems being faced by them and assured them of all help from administration as and when the need arises. Commandant of BSF Battalion, Satyendra Giri briefed the DC about all the issues pertaining to border management especially the checks and balances put in place to maintain peace and safety of life along the border. DC directed the officers of Civil and Police administration to remain vigilant and respond to villagers call immediately for ensuring safety of border dwellers. He also inspected the Individual and Community bunkers being constructed by the R&B department for protection of border dwellers during cross border firing. DC also took stock of identified shelter homes and basic amenities like water, electricity and medical facilities being provided to the people residing in border areas and directed the concerned officials to ensure availability of essential services. Meanwhile, several delegations called on the DC and apprised him of problems being faced by them seeking an early redressal of the same. Earlier, the DC in wake of unprovoked firing and ceasefire violation along the Hiranagar border, visited BoP Manyari and took stock of damages caused to life and property of border dwellers. He also met the families affected due to cross border shelling. |
