Jammu, Oct 3: The selective restoration of cell-phone connectivity by administration in restive Kashmir valley has created flutters among the administrative officials particularly from Jammu when they found that a peon in civil secretariat got his cell-phone connectivity restored while his superiors felt humiliated with their applications still pending for their disposal.
Sources informed Early Times that the administration had sought applications from the government officials especially from civil secretariat and has been restoring the cell-phone connectivity of the officials after the scrutiny of the applications.
"Many officials to the level of Secretaries, deputy secretaries, under secretaries and other administrative officials, especially from Jammu had sent their applications for restoration of their cell-phone connectivity, so that they could have regular communication with their families in Jammu", sources said, adding that even several officials as well as lower rung employees from Kashmir valley had also applied for the same.
Sources said that the officers from Jammu were left red-faced and perplexed when they found that a peon from Kashmir valley, had got his cell-phone connectivity restored and had been flaunting the same in the civil secretariat corridors, evoking resentment as well as surprise among the hapless officials from Jammu region.
"We are here nearly 300 kilometers far from our families and family members are in great distress and worry in absence of communication as well as fragile situation of Kashmir valley", an official said, adding that ever since the peon has managed cell-phone connectivity restored, it appeared that peon has replaced the officers, in context of his approach and influence in Kashmir valley.
An official further claimed that few officers have been found talking with their counterparts that would they were peons, so that alteast they would have working cell-phone, like the most fortunate peon in civil secreteriat.
