| Joint team conducts market checking in Udhampur | | |

UDHAMPUR, Oct 3: A special squad today inspected shops and other business establishments here in main Town markets as part of a drive to keep check on overcharging and quality of edibles during the festival season.
The checking team led by Tehsildar, Mohit Gupta with Police personnel officials of Municipality, Legal Metrology, Food Safety and FCS&CA inspected fruit and vegetable shops, sweatshops, hotels, dabas and other establishments. A fine of Rs. 30,000/- was recovered on the spot from the erring traders. Samples of different commodities were also picked for laboratory testing.
The team advised the shopkeepers to maintain cleanness in and around their shops and comply with the laws of essential commodities and food safety and standard and Legal Metrology acts. |
