Srinagar, Nov 6: Police claimed to have arrested two persons, including a woman, and recovered arms and ammunition, besides huge quantity of drugs worth lakhs of rupees near the Line of Control (LoC) at Uri sector in north Kashmir district of Baramulla. A police official on Wednesday said that following specific information about smuggling of drugs, arms and ammunition in Kamalkote in Uri, security forces a particular area in village Dulanga on Tuesday. He said police arrested two persons, including a woman, involved in the drug, arms and ammunition supply. ''The team recovered brown sugar sealed in two packs from the duo,'' he said. He said during questioning, the woman confessed to have concealed some more drugs (Brown Sugar) in a cow shed near her residential house. ''Accordingly, four packets of Brown Sugar weighing 4 Kgs (approx) were recovered during the search of the place.'' During the search of their residence, Rs 3.28 lakh was also recovered in cash. ''It was also revealed that some more contraband substance has been concealed in the nearby forest area,'' he said, adding accordingly the search of the area was undertaken which led to the recovery and seizure of Brown Sugar weighing approximately 2 Kgs, arms and ammunition, which included live rounds and magazines. ''Police has registered a case and initiated investigation to nab other people involved in the crime,'' he added. |
