JAMMU, Nov 6: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today reviewed the preparation of district administrations and concerned departments for conducting Fire Safety audit of Hotels and other establishments offering boarding and lodging, here at a meeting. The DCs of Samba, Udhampur, Reasi, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar and other officers participated in the meeting through video conferencing. The Div Com directed the concerned to inspect the hotels, guest houses, sarais and other premises to check fire safety measures or equipment in place and adequacy of the storage facilities for inflammable substances like kerosene oil, cooking gas, petrol/diesel etc and electricity systems. He said that Audit will also include ascertaining the adequacy of the training or awareness of the hotel staff and overall preparedness in spotting and reporting potential fire hazard issues and dealing with fire incidents. Other issues like offices and other facilities provided to the newly elected chairpersons of BDCs, Panchayats without buildings and possibility for usage of abandoned or unused school buildings and buildings for sub registrar offices were discussed in the meeting. |
