Chader Trek in UT of Ladakh to begin from Jan 7 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 5: Amid adequate arrangements, the world famous Chader Trek on Zanskar River in Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh is all set to start from January 7 (Tuesday). Currently the minimum temperature is around minus 30 degrees. The Leh administration has completed all the arrangements. The trekking will continue till the month of February. The Chadar trek is one-of-a-kind and trekkers require at least seven days to complete by crossing frozen ice slides, waterfalls and caves on the way. The trekkers have to spend at least three days in Leh for acclimatisation. Then, the trekkers will have to undergo compulsory pre-medical checkup in Leh. The Chadar route, which is basically a frozen river was primarily used by the natives to get their basic supplies and also to sell local wares like copper utensils, goatskin, Yak butter etc. to earn their living during bone-chilling winters. "The first batch will leave from Leh on January 7. Adequate arrangements have been made. Along with the safety of trackers, the deployment of officers also completed," an official said. |
