Jammu, Feb 23: With a view to inculcate spirit of nature education during morning walk, 848th Tree Talk on Biodiversity organized in Nagrota Army cantonment. The talk was focused on tree bird associations , herbal formulations of Ayurveda and nutritional tree cuisines & beverages of Jammu. More than 150 men, women, children participated in 2 hour long Sunday Tree Talk interaction in tune with Indian Biodiversity Act 2002 which mandates preparation of Biodiversity register with documentation of local names ,ethnic uses ,sacred tree traditions ,wild plant innovations ,tree cuisines ,beverages ,bees ,butterflies ,birds and wildlife conservation . Invited Guest speaker and Tree Talk founder Om Prakash Vidyarthi while sharing inputs on native trees highlighted ancient connectivity to nature in folk nomenclature ,ethnic uses ,Ayurvedic vision and modern Biotechnological innovations . Herbal display discussion in the herbal garden focused on organic plant based Holi colours namely Tesu ka Gulal from Dhak , Palash , Gudhal flower colour from China rose ,Orange colour of Parijat flower under the Sanskrit name Shefalika ,green colour of Padamaka Himalayan cherry tree ,Red colour of coral tree Erythrina indica ,Brown red colour of Kalga Maval Cock's comb ,Kachnar flower holi colour , Burans holi colour .During tea break session wild edible plants namely Starwort ,Edible Yam , Poi Palak ,Ber ,Clammy cherry Lasuda , Gudhal flower tea ,Semal flower tea ,Semal curry , Sohanjana fruit curry ,Curry patta , Pakalana flower Gualmanda ,Lemon scented basil Greehda tulsi , Giloe tea , Parijat pulao ,Jamun Biriyani , Maulshri parantha was highlight of outdoor sunday interaction .Participants were sensitized to include ecofriendly consumption of edible and non-edible products and phase out plastic usage in the interest of better health and upkeep of surroundings.
