IGP Kashmir reviews security situation in Kupwara

SRINAGAR, Mar 3: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar on Tuesday reviewed security situation in border district of Kupwara in north Kashmir and stressed on the need to enhance coordination between different security agencies for maintaining law and order.
A police spokesperson said that Mr Kumar visited Kupwara to review the security scenario and interact with civil society members and jawans.
During his visit, the IGP interacted with the Police, CAPF officers and discussed different security measures taken for the maintenance of law and order in their respective areas.
Stressing on the need to enhance coordination between different security agencies for maintaining law and order, he appreciated the police and security personnel for handling the situations in a professional manner.
The IGP Kashmir while interacting with the jawans briefed them about the various initiatives taken by the department for the welfare of the Police Personnel. He lauded the efforts made by District Police Kupwara in curbing crime and criminal activities in the area despite challenges. He also directed the officers to conduct the orderly rooms frequently and prioritise the redressal of grievances raised by the jawans.
He also held an interactive meeting with civil society members at Police Station Sogam. ''During the interactive meeting, various issues were raised by the civil society members. IGP Kashmir patiently heard the civil society members and other community members and redressed most of the issues during the interactive meeting,'' the spokesperson further said.
While thanking the community members and general public for their cooperation in maintaining peace and stability in the area, the IGP Kashmir assured them of every possible assistance in ensuring general welfare of the society.
The IGP Kashmir also stressed on holding frequent police public meeting in all the areas so as to resolve the issues faced by the citizens at the grassroots level and promote citizen centric governance.
