Town turns into litter dump as strike of Safai Karamcharis enters day 5

UDHAMPUR, Mar 3: The ongoing strike of Safai Karamcharis here today entered day 5 with litter spread in every corner of the town and health experts fearing an outbreak of some epidemic anytime.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Safai Karmacharis working with Udhampur Municipal Council in the town are on a strike demanding regularization of their services.
The protesting Safai Karamcharis are also supported by the permanent Safai Karamcharis and they too are not attending to their duties.
Chief Executive Officer of Udhampur Municipality, Santosh Kotwal when contacted said that if the permanent Safai Karamcharis will not resume to their duties soon then strict action will be taken against them.
However, he said that the government will look into the issue of casual Safai Karamcharis.
Meanwhile, a retired medico informed that if dirt and filth continue to lay scattered in the streets of the town then there is a possibility of outbreak of some epidemic.
It is pertinent to mention here that the world at present is countering the deadly Coronavirus COVID-19 and garbage in streets in such a scenario becomes a matter of concern.
The trash in streets and at market places is also affecting the business and the shopkeepers are witnessing fall in the number of customers.
Commuters, students and others are facing a tough time to move through dirty streets and roads.
Meanwhile, DC Udhampur Piyush Singla did not pick the phone when Early Times tried to contact him for his comment.
