New Political Party busy drafting its Constitution, announcement likely this week | Big wigs join hands to put PDP, NC’s rhetoric to rest | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 3: The emergence of new political party in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape is likely to happen in a week’s time with drafting of the party’s constitution entering into a decisive and final lap. Sources privy to this development told Early Times that the party being formed by the former ministers, legislators and senior politicians hailing from various political groups will burst into the scene this month and most probably this week. Sources divulged that the constitution of the party is in the final stage and once approved, this new party will reveal to public its roadmap and agenda. Reports informed that many senior voices hailing from Congress, PDP and national conference will join the new group which according to the political pundits will strive to present itself as a decisive political force to reckon with post abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35-A. As per the reports, the new political party shall focus on the domicile rights to the Jammu and Kashmir residents and also will seek protection from the central government for their protection in jobs. “Once the drafting of the party’s constitution is complete, there is going to be another rigorous round of confabulations between the leaders over whether anything more is needed in the party’s agenda and what major demands the party is going to put forth at the very onset of its formation. All such proposals will take time to get implemented and there are chances that by this week or later, you will have a very new party with a new approach and a pro-people agenda,” says a leader and supporter of the new group. The political upheaval is prevalent in Jammu and Kashmir with various political leaders joining hands to come together and make a united form. The PDP recently axed eight of its senior leaders for accompanying the PDP’s ousted leader Altaf Bukahri to meet the Lt Governor and submit a memorandum that demanded domicile rights for the JK’s permanent residents. The leaders who were expelled were Dilawar Mir, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Zaffar Iqbal, Abdul Majeed Padroo, Raja Manzoor Khan, Javaid Hussain Baig, Qamar Hussain and Abdul Rahim Rather -- all former MLAs. However, expelled Dilawar Mir questioned the legality behind his expulsion, stating that no one except the PDP President can remove a former legislator from his post. He even yelled at still being a PDP man. Speculations meanwhile were rife that the emergence of 3rd front in Jammu and Kashmir’s political spectrum is in offing. And now, with more than three months of lull, chances are high that in March the new party may appear on the scene and declare its new proposal. The question however remains is that how many more faces from Congress, PDP and the national conference will join this new group and whether its constitution put an end the rhetoric put forth by the regional PDP and National Conference. |
