SAMBA, Mar 4: Thousands of people of village Nichla and adjoining areas have been left to suffer in absence of a bridge over Bain Nallah of District Samba. Bain Nallah originates from Shivalik Hills of District Samba and flows through villages Odh, Gungad, Ratwana, Patyari, Nichla, Dasien, Gazithangar, Solah, Surara, Rattanpur, Knah, Barla, Brah, Krarki and Samthyal of District Samba then it enters the planes of border area. It separates the Districts Kathua and Samba of Jammu and Kashmir UT. Sources told Early Times that on the eastern bank of the Nallah the people of District Kathua are hardly connected with the people of District Samba residing on the western bank of Nallah but they have to cross this 200-300 meters Nallah to meet each other. Residents of villages of District Samba such as Mayan Knah, Loukhali, Badoli, Said, Nouni, Chelakh West have to cross the Nallah for education and medical facilities as the Primary Health Centre and Govt High School Nichla situated at village Nichla of District Samba. The width of is 200-300 Meters and remain full of water. Moreover due to mining, the nallah has become very deep at many places posing serious threat to people, who cross it. The residents alleged the demand of construction of bridge over Bain Nallah was raised at various platforms but nothing has been done till date. “Although Kootah to Surara link road was constructed under PMGSY but the demand of bridge remained unfulfilled,” they said. It is important to state that the employees working in PHC Nichla, Sub Center Surara, Sub Center Odh, Animal Husbandry Surara, Sheep Husbandry Surara, HS Nichla, HS Surara, HS Said, MS Odh, MS Rattanpur, MS Badoli and many other Primary Schools face various problems during rains to reach their respective offices due to this nallah. A senior citizen and social worker of village Nichla, Murari Lal Sharma said that they have demanded the construction of bridge over the Nallah at all levels including Back to Village Programs, Public Darbars, District Development Boards meetings or any other public outreach program but nothing has been done in this regard. He added that the people of our area especially students and women and ailing persons suffer more as they have to cross this huge Nallah to reach Schools, Examination Centers or Hospitals as well. Gopal Sharma, a bus operator said that they have to face many problems during rainy seasons and bear more risks to land the buses in the Nallah. About 7 years ago 7 passengers including women and children were trapped in the flood near Primary Health Center as their vehicle submerged into flood. Later they were rescued by locals of nearby villages. Smriti Sharma a student of class 10th studying in Govt High School Nichla asked the administration that why their demands are always ignored whether it was of upgradation of Govt High School Nichla to the level of Higher Secondary School or construction of bridge over Bain Nallah. |
