DIC organizes awareness session for media persons on COVID-19

UDHAMPUR, Mar 14: With an objective to sensitize the common masses regarding Corona virus (COVID-19) in the district today District Information Centre, Udhampur in collaboration with Health Department organized an awareness session for media persons under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. K.C Dogra gave a brief about the symptoms precautions and preventive measures of Noval Corona Virus. He said that isolated wards have been established in district hospital and all the Sub District Hospitals for the patients having Corona Virus like symptoms. He further said that doctors and specialists are already directed to remain stationed at their respective hospitals round the clock.
While briefing the media, ADDC said that media persons have to play a pivotal role for dissemination of information regarding corona virus in the district. He sought the cooperation of the media persons to aware the general public regarding Corona Virus.
ADDC asked media persons to aware the public not to panic and take precautionary measures and follow the advisories issued by health department from time to time. ADDC said that teams are activated in the district to screen the people having travel history to affected countries and to educate them for precautionary measures to be followed.
Expert from Health department, Dr. Vinod Gupta, also delivered a lecture on Corona virus and advised not to panic and suggested some precautionary measures like Regularly and thoroughly cleaning your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water, Maintain at least 1 meter distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing, If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early.
