EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Mar 14: The officers involved in corrupt practices in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are on the radar of the government investigation agencies. Sources told Early Times that the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu has directed the investigation agencies to complete probe against corrupt officers as expeditiously as possible. Sources said that the government is planning to constitute a Special Task Force to review the progress of the probe in corruption cases. “The task force will assist the agencies in completing the probe on schedule. It will also review the working of the vigilance officers posted in various state government departments,” sources maintained. Sources said that the government also plans to plug all the loopholes so that agencies face no hurdle in collecting evidence. Sources said that corruption cases pending with the investigation agencies involve several government departments. Sources said that recent ACB as well as Crime branch raids in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir has left corrupt officers in a flurry. Both the ACB and Crime Branch has tightened noose around corrupt officers. “There is all likelihood that in the coming days more corrupt officers will fall in the ACB, Crime Branch net” Sources said. It is to mention here that investigating agencies have clear instructions from the higher-ups to ensure that investigation into all the corruption cases as well as other pending FIRs is completed as expeditiously as possible so as to pave the way for presentation of challans in the Anti-Corruption Courts and securing maximum conviction. Sources had told Early Times that after the abrogation of Article 370, there has been a sharp rise in registration of corruption cases against higher officials involved in alleged malpractices. A senior officer of the ACB told early times that fresh cases were registered against those officers, who were of the opinion that they will never be touched after committing huge frauds due to their close proximity with the then ruling class of the erstwhile state. |
