3/14/2020 11:31:13 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

Srinagar, Mar 14: Asserting that not everyone needs mask, J&K administration spokesperson Rohit Kansal on Saturday said that washing hands with soap and water was the best protection against Coronavirus.
Mr Kansal also warned people who hoard, overcharge or deny masks and hand sanitisers. ''Appeal : Dear Friends..not everyone needs a mask; only those who do must use. For washing hands soap and water is best,'' he wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
He said those who hoard, overcharge or deny these products - the administration is watching and it has the backing of law.
He also appealed people to avoid gatherings and unnecessary travel. ''Maintain social distance and respiratory hygiene,'' he added.
Jammu and Kashmir Administration on Friday suspended Dr Shafqat Khan, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Efforts, for dereliction of duties.
''Pending an inquiry into his conduct, Dr Khan, Nodal Officer for Coronavirus Efforts in Jammu and Kashmir, Health and Medical Education Department, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect,'' an official order read.
During the period of his suspension, Dr Khan will be attached with the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, or the Chief Medical Officer, Kathua, it said.
The order did not say anything about what kind of misconduct. However, unconfirmed reports said that Dr Khan had an argument with Chief Secretary BR Subramanyam over coronavirus control in the UT during a recently held video conference.
