NC leader locks horns with former colleague online
3/14/2020 11:31:48 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Mar 14: A war of wards has erupted between senior National Conference leader, who is also a renowned medico and Peoples Conference leader, and the same has been festering for the past few days.
What started as an argument between the two on the social media website Twitter has become talk of the town in political circles in Jammu and Kashmir.
It all started when the PC leader who is holding a political chair in Srinagar said on the Twitter that “Proposing a resolution for voting in the General Council of SMC to name/rename following prominent roads/chowks in Srinagar…” The NC leader retweeted saying “I’m the name of CHANGE, my beloved J&K and Ladakh tumbling from one absurdity to another. New parties, new street names, upstarts vying for rulers attention ! This too shall pass away.”
On this the PC leader looked furious and started making allegedly personal attacks on the medico. “The exchange of words has been such that one cannot even put that in public domain as they were almost washing dirty linen in public,” said one observer keeping track of the altercation.
Interestingly, both of them were previously associated with the same NC and would speak on behalf of the party.
Sources said the NC leader only suggested that if the names of roads are to be changed in Kashmir why not to name them also after Kashmir Pandits like Tika Lal Taploo who had become victim of militancy in Kashmir in early 1990s.
Sources said the PC leader on the other hand is in “race” with the Bharatiya Janta Party which recently named a square in Jammu after Bharat Mata.
Since then some politicians in Srinagar are looking ahead for similar moves to be executed in Kashmir.
“This is all drama,” said a politician.
Despite repeated attempts the two couldn’t be contacted for comments.
