Taxi union holds protest against Traffic Police

MENDHAR, Mar 14: The Taxi Union protested against the traffic police, at the main Bus-stand where a large number of drivers shouted slogans against DSP traffic.
The drivers accused the DSP traffic of harassment, saying that they are being harassed by traffic police and despite the documents our vehicles were seized and we were ordered to register a case.
SHO Mendhar Tahir Yusif Khan reached the spot along with the police team asked the protesting drivers to move off the road. When they started chanting slogans, the police immediately dispersed and came in action against drivers.
The drivers said, "We are poor, we are harassed daily by the traffic police. DSP Traffic Mohammad Zubair Mirza said that according to the complaint of people, we had Naka in various routes of Mendhar in which we had booked those who violate the traffic rules.
He said today during Naka Five vehicles seized, 70 Chalans and four cases registered against drivers who has been overloading Violators. Mirza said that a taxi driver misbehaved with our traffic personnel during the Naka on the route from Mendhar to Poonch, after which disturbed the entire traffic, we have also filed a case against him at Mendhar police station.
