HC directs Commissioner YSS to take decision on pensionary benefits for its employees

JAMMU, Mar 21: In a petition filed by Nazir Ahmed & Ors essentially prayed for a direction to the respondents to provide pensionary benefits to the petitioners who are serving employees of the J&K State Sports Council on the analogy of employees of J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board and J&K Handicraft Corporation and J&K SRTC etc.
Justice Sanjeev Kumar after hearing Adv MI Sherkhan while disposing of petition with the direction to Commissioner Secretary Youth, Services & Sports (YSS) to take a decision on the request of J&K Sports Council for payment of pensionary benefits to its employees.
When the petition came-up for hearing, Justice Sanjeev Kumar observed that the Secretary to Government, State Sports Council, Jammu has filed reply affidavit in which he has categorically stated that the matter with regard to payment of pensionary benefits to the employees of the J&K Sports Council has been taken up with the Government and the same is under active consideration. It is submitted that as and when appropriate decision is taken by the Government, follow up action will be taken by the J&K Sport Council.
In view of the aforesaid, Justice Sanjeev Kumar disposed of the petition by providing that Commissioner/Secretary to the Government Youth Services and Sports, Jammu, who is seized of the matter, shall take the same to its logical end and take a decision on the request of J&K Sports Council for payment of pensionary benefits to its employees be taken by respondent No. 1, in accordance with law within a period of two months from the date a certified copy of this order is made available.
