J&K Wakf Board announces suspension of prayers | | | Early Times REport
Srinagar, Mar 21: he Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Wakf Board on Saturday announced suspension of prayers at its affiliated mosques and shrines as a preventive measure to contain the spread of Coronavirus. The board also announced suspension of religious gatherings and displaying of ‘Holy Relic’ on the occasion of Mehrai-ul-Alam (SAW) celebrations in the valley. “In view of the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19), declared as “Pandemic” by the World Health Organization and as a preventive measure to contain the spread of the virus in Kashmir Valley and subsequent the imposition of restrictions under Section 144 CRPC by the District Administration concerned, it is hereby ordered to suspend regular prayers in shrines / mosques affiliated with the Wakf Board and displaying of Holy Relic (PBUH) on the occasion of Mehrai-ul-Alam (SAW) celebrations,” the Wakf Board said in a statement issued here on Saturday. Curfew-like restrictions remained imposed for the third successive day on Saturday to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the summer capital, Srinagar, and many other areas of Kashmir valley, where a woman was tested positive for the infection on Wednesday. Three persons have also been tested positive for Coronavirus in Jammu. |
