Standing crop concern of farmers, provide combines for harvesting: GCS | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, 14 April: Notwithstanding with the fact that lockdown period has been extended in the country, Grameen Civil Society has urged the Lt Governor Girish Chander Murmu to take care of the standing crop of farmers in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir so that they can cultivate their next crop. UT administration should allow combine machine operators from neighbouring state Punjab so that farmers can harvest their standing wheat crop, demands Shakti Dutt Sharma. While expressing deep concern over the standing wheat crop of farmers, Grameen Civil Society president Shakti Dutt Sharma said due to lockdown amid spread of COVID-19 in country, people including farmers of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir are following social distancing and other precautionary measures. But they are now much concerned about their standing wheat crop and cultivation of next crop due to shortage of labourers. Keeping in view the situation and shortage of labouers, Shakti Dutt Sharma urged the Lt Governor Sh. Garish Chander Murmu to allow combine machine operators to union territory of Jammu and Kashmir so that farmers can cultivate their standing crop and plough their fields for further crop. He further urged the UT administration to lift the produce of farmers from their doorstep like Uttar Pradesh and other states of the country and also provide seed and fertilizers timely to the farmers. Rashpaul Choudhary, Yash Seth, Dr Varun Padha, Sunil Raka and local elected representatives of rural area were present on this occasion. |
