ANANTNAG, Apr 14: The authorities on Tuesday declared Nowgam-Shangus village of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district as ‘Red Zone’ area after a resident of the village tested positive for coronavirus. According to reports, 41 year old baker, hailing from Nowgam village of Shangus Anantnag had previously come in touch with a positive case. Shangus, Kothair, Sombruna, Ogjibalan, Ississo, Wangam and Odsoo have been declared as buffer zones. Inward and outward movement of people and vehicles has also been restricted in these villages “A Kulgam resident, who last week tested positive for the coronavirus, had disclosed few people who came in contact with him. His sample was taken and was put into quarantine. Today we received his report and it turned out positive,” an official at GMC Anantnag told Early Times. The district administration started tracing his contacts hours after official declaration. The Anantnag District Magistrate, Bashir Ahmad Dar, issued an order under Section 114 of CrPC, Section 34 of National Disaster Act 2005 and Section 3 of the Epidemics Diseases Act 1987 and directed Chief Medical Officer Anantnag to conduct the process of tracing contacts of man who tested positive for coronavirus. District Magistrate Anantnag also directed Municipal Committee Achabal to sanitize the red zone areas as per the protocol. Divisional Forest Officer, Anantnag Forest Division, has been nominated as Nodal Officer for the red and buffer zone areas and has been directed to ensure screening of the red zone areas besides essential supply to these areas. |
