Another batch of 33 discharged in Uri after tests turn negative | Four more positive cases of COVID-19 in Kupwara | | S TAHIR-UL HAQ

BARAMULLA, Apr 23: More than thirty persons were discharged today from quarantine centre TRC Salamabad Uri after their tests came negative, while as four more persons tested positive in Kupwara district. According to sources, the Duty Magistrate Bub Division Uri Naveed Altaf, oversaw their discharge and transportation to their respective homes. The group like all others before them underwent medical supervision period and was discharged after clearance from doctors and health authorities with the strict directions to remain in home quarantine, said sources. While as one person that was tested positive here yesterday is already in quarantine centre JNV Shakote from last two weeks, said sources. His first sample had tested negative earlier but in his room one person came positive and authorities have send their samples to the hospital, said sources. However sources also said that, an elderly woman of Baramulla town tested positive for COVID-19 infection has contacted some people across the town. Authorities in Baramulla have tracked down 20 people who had come in close contact with the COVID-19 victim woman in the town. It was learnt that an elderly woman had visited local clinic many times in the area where several persons had come in contact with the victim. Meanwhile, around 40 patients have so far reported at a hospital for checkup that had been examined by the doctor who was tested positive for COVID-19. Pertinent to mention here late Wednesday Chief Medical Officer (CMO) issued a circular which reads, “It’s for the information of those patients who visited district Hospital Baramulla between, 13-04-2020 from 10:00 am to 14-04-2020 up to 4:00 PM and have been examined by the doctor who was tested positive for COVID-19 may report directly to this hospital or call on helpline No. 7006231150 for medical advice”. Meanwhile, in Kupwara, four more persons have been tested positives from Red Zone Anderhama, all contacts of earlier positive patients. However, other 84 samples have tested negative thus completing testing process in all the other 6 Red Zones of the district except Anderhama where contact tracing and testing will continue. Total number of active cases for Kupwara stands at 35 now, said Deputy Commissioner Kupwara. |
