KCWT criticizes Councilor, others for not allowing last rites of deceased | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 14: Kotli Colony Welfare Trust (KCWT) has criticized all those including a Councilor for opposing last rites of a 75-year old man from Preet Nagar Digiana, who died yesterday and detected as COVID positive after his demise. Chairman of the Trust, Chandan Datta said that it a very disturbing incident which has jolted everyone’s conscious in Jammu. He said that the mortal remains of the person who died of illness and later found positive with COVID-19 were ill-treated by a section of the society which should be condemned adding that family members of the decesed went through a trauma when Councilor Ritu Choudhary came in open protest to perform his last rites at Jogi Gate Cremation Ground by giving a statement that people of her area are against it. She openly said that we will not allow his last rites over here and told his family members that you may do it at the place near their house. Datta said that one who died should be given respect and for that administration should make necessary arrangements to perform last rites of the deceased in a proper manner in future so that one may not cross limits to be inhuman and humanity prevails. |
