NO fee hike, charge tuition fee only: Govt tells Pvt Schools | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, MAY 14: Principal Secretary to Government School Education Department, Dr Asghar Samoon on Thursday issued a formal order directing private schools not to charge tuition fee on quarterly basis. At least six directions have been passed and schools have been asked to adhere to these instructions. As per the order, which lies with Early Times read, "Whereas Circular instructions were issued curlier to private schools regarding collection of fees from students in view of Covid- 19 pandemic vide Government Order No. 100-Edu of 2020 dated 30.03.2020". "Whereas Private Schools Association approached this Depanment for issuing instructions regarding collection of tuition foes ctc. to ensure drawal of salary for staff posted in such schools", it added. "Whereas requests of those Association were discussed at length and considered by this Department and it was deemed appropriate to issue further instructions in continuation to instructions issued on the subject vide Government (Order No. 100-Edo of 2020 dated 30.03.2020". Now, therefore following necessary instructions are issued which includes "Only tuition fees shall be charged from students on monthly basis instead of quarterly basis for the lockdown period". "No foot hike shall be made during acadcmic session 2020-21. Annual fees if any can be charged monthly on pro-rata basis, after schools reopen". Also, no school shall deny access to online education material/classes to poor/ deserving students unable to pay school fees due to prevailing situation. Registration of private schools which has expired during lockdown period shall be deemed valid till lockdown period is over. A view regarding transport charges shall be taken separately. |
