EarlyTimes Report

JAMMU, May 27: A gang of bike lifters is said to have been active in Jagti colony of Nagrota area who stole bikes during night hours .
On the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday some miscreants lifted a bike of Vinod Kumar who had parked the same near his residence Block No 42.Though a duplicate key was used to open the handle lock but they failed to get it started .
The bike was taken by miscreants on foot to some distance near a jungle falling along the Colony. They had used a cutter and several wires were plucked and then joined with each other to start the bike but their efforts seemed to have been failed and abondoned the bike there.
In the morning when the owner got up and saw his bike missing some passers by told him that a bike was abondoned near jungle which is situated at a little distance from the colony.
The matter was brought into the notice of local police and assured a manhunt to nab miscreants .
It is pertinent to mention here that previously also several bikes were lifted from the colony but till date nothing was done in this regard.Locals fear theft for their vehicles because all the vehicles remain parked in open in the Colony, they added.
