JAMMU, June 10: Demanding relief package for the artists particularly those seniors who have crossed 50 years of age, the Kalakaar Association said that the government should immediately announce something substantial for the artist fraternity. In a press statement, the Kalakaar Association said that besides senior artists there are so many cultural activists who are forced to live from hand to mouth as they are totally dependent on daily earnings but due to the prolonged lockdown not even a single penny was earned by them. The Association said that most of the artists are in worst condition and need immediate relief. Association further said that it is also a matter of concern that cultural authorities had approved a pension scheme but the same is pending for 2018-19 & 2019-20 and has been withheld without any reason, adding that it should be released as the artists have no other options than cultural activities so they should not be ignored at any cost and concerned authorities should look after their demands and interest with sympathy. We appeal to authorities that demands of artists should be taken on priority basis so that they do not suffer further, the Association said. The signatories to the statement included President of the Association Urja Singh, Raju Vijaypuriya, Ajay Slathia, Ajeet Sharma, Om Prakash, Neelam Gandotra, Chanchal Dogra, Dilshad Sazi, Deepak Kumar, Kuldeep Kumar, Rishab, Deepak Raguvanshi, and others.
