SRINAGAR, June 10: The death toll due to the Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 51 as three more persons died due to the virus over the past 24 hours. At the same time 161 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported in the union territory today. Reports said that three more persons affected by the Corona Virus in the Kashmir valley died over the past 24 hours or so. With the latest death count on account of Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir reached 51. While 46 COVID-19 patients have died in Kashmir five such patients have died in the Jammu division. In the meantime, 161 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported from the union territory today. Shopian reported 37 fresh cases followed by Kulgam 28 cases, Udhampur 19 cases, Kupwara 18 cases, Poonch 12 cases, Srinagar 10 cases, Baramulla eight cases, Anantnag seven cases, Samba six cases, Bandipora and Jammu four cases each, Budgam, Ramban and Kathua two cases each and Pulwama and Doda one case each. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 161 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 46 from Jammu division and 115 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 4507. Also, three COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 165 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 27 from Jammu division and 138 from Kashmir division. Out of 4507 positive cases, 2785 are active positive, 1671 have recovered and 51 have died; five in Jammu division and 46 in Kashmir division. The Bulletin said that out of 2, 41,891 test results available, 2, 37,384 samples have been tested as negative till date. Additionally, till date 2, 23,480 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 40,954 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 32 in Hospital Quarantine, 2,785 in hospital isolation and 55,975 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 23,683 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Kulgam has 566 positive cases, 398 active positive, 161 recoveries, seven deaths; Baramulla has 495 positive cases, 363 active positive, 122 recovered, 10 deaths; Srinagar has 489 positive cases, 326 active positive, 151 recovered, 12 deaths; Anantnag district has 469 positive cases, 159 active positive, 305 recovered, five deaths; Shopian has 440 positive cases, 265 active positive, 171 recovered, four deaths. “Kupwara has 375 positive cases, 140 active positive, 232 recovered, three deaths; Bandipora has 229 positive cases, 92 active positive, 136 recovered, one death; Budgam has 211 positive cases, 130 active positive, 79 recovered, two deaths; Pulwama has 190 positive cases, 168 active positive, 20 recovered, two deaths and Ganderbal has 58 positive cases, 32 active positive, 26 recoveries,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 242 positive cases, 134 active positive, 105 recoveries, three deaths; Ramban has 172 positive cases, 149 active positive, 23 recoveries; Udhampur has 150 positive cases, 114 active positive, 35 recovered, one death; Kathua has 123 positive cases, 74 active positive, 49 recovered; Poonch has 85 positive cases, 76 active positive, nine recoveries. “Samba has 69 positive cases, 45 active positive, 24 recoveries; Rajouri has 57 positive cases, 45 active positive, 12 recovered; Doda has 43 positive cases, 40 active positive, two recoveries, one death; Reasi has 23 positive cases, 18 active positive, five recovered and Kishtwar has 21 positive cases, 17 active positive, four recovered,” reads the bulletin. It said that out of 4507 positive cases in J&K, 1605 have been reported as travelers while 2902 as others. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
